How Do I Apply for My Reseller's Permit?

3 min. readlast update: 05.14.2024

The Reseller's Permit is a crucial step that we cover during the onboarding process. You must have a Reseller's Permit in order to buy products wholesale and resell online, such as on Amazon. We understand that it can be confusing or overwhelming to complete the application process and we're here to help you.

Most of the information required during the application process is straightforward such as personal identification details; however, other questions may reference new terminology. We've outlined some of the most frequently asked questions related to the Reseller's Permit application process below, but we encourage you to consult the detailed information provided to you at onboarding.

Type of Business Entity

For most of our clients, establishing your business as an LLC is the right answer; however, this may differ depending on your individual situation. You will be asked for your F EIN and registration number during the Reseller's Permit application and you can find those on your LLC documents.

NAICS Code

The NAICS code relates to what type of items you are selling. You don't need to list every related NAICS code and we recommend searching Google for the NAICS toy code to list on your application.

Purchasing Items from Out of State

You will want to answer yes when asked whether you are purchasing items from out of state to sell in your state. We will be buying items from a range of suppliers that may or may not be registered in your state. If you are asked to fill out specific supplier information please refer to the onboarding documents for these details.

Cannabis or Tobacco Products

We don't purchase or sell any products containing cannabis or tobacco.

Taxes

Within the scope of business with ARC you will not be paying for taxes on properties or farm equipment. We also do not deal with anything related to electricity or gases. You can put projected sales as 25-50k and zero projected taxable sales.

Applying for a Reseller's Permit in your State

Getting a sales tax number is very easy and inexpensive. You can link to any of the states below to get information on obtaining a sales use tax number. Some of the states allow you to apply online and others will give you forms to download, complete, and mail in.

Link to government sites change often. If one of these links doesn't work, simply type in www.xx.gov. Just replace the " x x" with the two letters of the state you want. For example, www.wa.gov will get you to the State of Washington web site.
